TWO YEARS, TOO MANY CUTS FOR CHIFLEY

07 September 2015

Today marks two years since the Abbott Government was elected and it is just as clear today, as it was back then, that Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey only care about two jobs their own.
Neighbourhoods and families across the Chifley electorate have paid too high a price for two years of the terrible two: Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey, Federal MP Ed Husic said today.
Two years ago, Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey didnt havethe decency to tell Chifley voters what cuts an Abbott Government would bring down on our community. Since the election of the Abbott Government weve seen:

Chifley schools have become the worst affected by cuts to education funding;

Hospital funding massively cut with funding for a MRI at Mt Druitt Hospital taken away;

Plans to introduce a $7 per visit GP Tax;

Plans for huge cuts to pensions, resisted by the Labor Opposition;

Moves to bring in $100,000 university fees putting uni out of reach for local students;

$7m cut from Blacktown Council money that would be used for maintaining roads and local infrastructure;

The rollout of the National Broadband Network slowed down making households wait longer to have local broadband blackspots tackled in Woodcroft.

Worse still, independent research has shown that Mt Druitt has been the hardest hit suburb in the country due to the two Federal Budgets brought down by the Abbott Government.
Under this government economic growth has slumped, jobless figures are at 13-year highs, wages are hardly growing, living standards are falling and, despite the long list of cuts to health, education, superannuation and community services, the Budget deficit has still doubled.
And on top of this we have calls by Liberal Governments to increase the GST by 50 per cent.
For Chifley residents, two years of Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey is two years too much.
