MAKING AFL MAGIC IN WESTERN SYDNEY

21 June 2016

Local AFL team the Western Magic has launched a new brand and announced a new 2016 Number One Ticket Holder: Federal MP for Chifley, Ed Husic.
Western Magic has done me a terrific honour naming me as their Number One Ticket Holder, Mr Husic said.
Im also looking forward to sporting my awesome Western Magic jersey. As a basketball tragic, I own stacks of basketball jerseys but have never owned an AFL jersey.
The Magic have helped me achieve a personal milestone.
Recently the Club decided to change their name from the Blacktown Magic to the Western Magic to reflect the geographic area the Club represents.
This team has had a dream start they are one of the fastest growing clubs in the Sydney AFL, and their decision to change their look to better suit the community they represent is a very smart move, Mr Husic said.
In only four years, this team has gone from being newcomers to climbing the ranks and becoming a powerhouse club.
Since its inception, the team has competed in five Grand Finals, won three Premierships, been awarded three League goal-kicking awards, become the first Gold Accredited Quality Club in NSW/ACT; and remains the only winner of the Swisse Australian Community AFL Club of Year Award.
President of the Club John Clifford has achieved phenomenal growth within this team and expanded their presence to two mens teams, one womens team and this year they also introduced an under-19s youth team.
This re-branding follows the recent amalgamation of two local junior clubs in Rooty Hill and Quakers Hill into the Blacktown Suns, which will also align with the Magic.

As they continue to grow, I look forward to supporting them and seeing a strong sporting presence in our local community.
