Carbon price revenue helps Arnott’s invest in clean and renewable technologies

Federal MP Ed Husic today visited the Arnott’s at Huntingwood to congratulate the company on successfully obtaining a grant to help improve the plant’s energy efficiency.

Arnott’s has obtained $113,254 grant from the Clean Technology Investment Program to improve their production methods and reduce their carbon footprint.

Mr Husic praised Arnott’s for their commitment to the environment evidenced by the $3.4 million they have spent over the past 6 years at Huntingwood on 24 ‘green projects’.

“When I’ve previously visited Arnott’s they impressed me with how much attention they pay to continually improving the way they operate,” Mr Husic said.

“Arnott’s has looked at ways of using energy smarter by making changes to its production processes – so we’re tipping in more than $100,000.

“The Government is tipping in a third of the $340,000 total cost for Arnott’s to upgrade refrigeration controls and install other energy saving equipment.

“Arnott’s expects they will reduce the carbon emissions intensity of the refrigeration equipment by 13% resulting in savings of $50,000 in energy costs per year.”

“By helping manufacturers like Arnott’s invest in energy efficient capital equipment and low emissions technologies, processes and products, the Federal Government is supporting projects that are good for businesses, good for the community and good for the environment.
