CHIFLEY THANKS ITS LOCAL WAR VETERANS WITH CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION

Chifley MP Ed Husic has had the honour of presenting certificates of appreciation to decorated local servicemen as part of the Commonwealth’s “Saluting Their Service” Program.

The Certificates were made available to veterans who have served in conflicts or peace operations from World War 2 until the present.

Certificates signed by the Hon. Ed Husic, Prime Minister, the Hon. Tony Abbott and the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Senator the Hon. Michael Ronaldson have been awarded to:

Robert Cooper - Vietnam War – Royal Australian Navy 1968-1974 – Able Seaman/Signalman.

Robert Baxter  - The Malayan Emergency – Royal Australian Navy -1955-1961 – Leading Hand.

John Ebzery - WW2 – Australian Army – 1941-1945 – Private in the 146th Transport Company.

Ki Yong Lee  - Vietnam War – Army of the Republic of South Korea – Sergeant -1970-1973.

“It is an honour to meet these people and know that they are living amongst us here in Chifley,” Mr Husic said today.

“We owe them and their families a great debt for their service,” he added.

“The things that these servicemen experienced and saw, many carry for the rest of their lives.

“We in turn should never forget their sacrifice,” Mr Husic concluded.
