Ed Husic opens new multipurpose hall at Holy Family Primary School

Federal Member for Chifley, Ed Husic last week attended the official opening of the new multipurpose hall at Holy Family Primary School in Emerton, built as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).

Holy Family Primary School received $2,125,000 under the National School Pride (NSP) program and Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) element of the BER.

The BER is a key element of the Australian Government’s $42 billion Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long term.

Mr Husic congratulated Holy Family Primary School on their new facilities and spoke of the benefit to both the school and local community.

“We’re now into the delivery phase of the BER which is exciting for all those involved,” Mr Husic said.

“Getting to this point involved tremendous goodwill from the Principal, builders, parents and students working together.”

“Teachers and students in our local schools will be teaching and learning in 21st Century facilities that they so richly deserve.”

Mr Husic said the new facilities are not only a benefit to the school, they are supporting stronger social networks and community cohesion.

“I’m delighted to be here today, celebrating this wonderful facility with the community of Holy Family Emerton.”

“I am proud to highlight that this particular project has supported the employment of many local workers. This is what we aimed to do when we first announced the Economic Stimulus Plan,” Mr Husic said.
