Local Police Officers awarded for service

Chifley MP Ed Husic joined with local community, businesses and Police representatives to celebrate the contributions of a number of Sworn Officers and civilian support staff at the 2013 Mt Druitt Rotary Police Officer of the Year Awards.

The Award ceremony on Wednesday night was held at Rooty Hill RSL Club and paid tribute to the top Police Officers from the Mt Druitt and Quakers Hill Local Area Commands.

Senior Constable Bruce Havord was named Mt Druitt Police Officer of the Year and Leading Senior Constable Paul Cosgrove was named Quakers Hill Police Officer of the Year.

Senior Constable Havord works in the specialist area of licensing, working diligently to reduce the occurrence of alcohol-fuelled crime around Mt Druitt.

Leading Senior Constable Paul Cosgrove works as a plain clothes Officer in the Proactive Crime Team and is a mentor to less experienced Officers.

“It’s great that as a community we have the opportunity to recognise the outstanding service of our Police Officers,” Mr Husic said.

“Most of us have little to do with the Police day-to-day but they touch our lives every single day, in ways many of us barely think about.

“These awards are a great way for us to show our appreciation for the difficult job they do to keep our community safe.

“I want to thank Mt Druitt Rotary Club and all the sponsors who gave us the opportunity to recognise the service of our local Police.”
