New library and classroom facilities opened at Marayong Heights Public School

Students and teachers at Marayong Heights Public School will now enjoy the benefits of a new library and classroom facilities officially opened today by Federal Member for Chifley, Ed Husic.

Built as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER) program, Marayong Heights Public School received almost $2.5 million under the National School Pride (NSP) and Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) element of the BER.

Mr Husic congratulated Principal Ken MacLennan, teachers, students and parents of Marayong Heights Public School on their new facilities.

“It is tremendous to be here today to celebrate the opening of these facilities and to witness first hand, the impact this has had on this school and the broader community,” Mr Husic said.

"Opening these new classrooms and library comes at a great time, as the school celebrates its 50th birthday.”

The National School Pride (NSP) program has provided $11 million in funding for 82 projects throughout schools in Chifley for minor infrastructure and refurbishment.

Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) element has funded 49 eligible primary schools in Chifley a total of $116 million for major new infrastructure.

“I am also delighted to announce that this particular project has supported the employment of many workers. This is what we strived to achieve – this is the essence of the Economic Stimulus Plan,” Mr Husic said.
