Nominations are now being sought for 2011 Chifley Volunteer Awards

Federal Member for Chifley, Ed Husic is calling for nominations from individuals and groups in the Chifley electorate to be recognised in the 2011 Chifley Volunteer Awards.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the United Nations International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10) celebrating the theme Australia Volunteers: Inspire the Volunteer in You.

Ten special awards will be awarded to local volunteers who have made an extraordinary contribution to the community, at a ceremony at the end of the year. The categories for nomination include:

  • Volunteer of the Year

  • Junior Volunteer Award (17 and under)

  • Young Volunteer Award (18-25)

  • Education Award

  • Environment Award

  • Long-term Commitment to Community Service Award

  • Business Volunteer Award

  • Innovation in Volunteering Award (for an organisation or individual)

  • New Organisation Award

  • Emergency Management Volunteer Award


“There are more than 11,000 volunteers in Chifley, across all ethnic backgrounds, ages and genders,” Mr Husic said.

“I encourage you to nominate an outstanding volunteer or group of volunteers in your organisation.”
