HOW CAN PEOPLE HELP?


There's plenty of ways you can help people in flood affected areas. A list of appeals and organizations that are helping those in need and giving people a way to help out are listed below.


PREMIER'S FLOOD RELIEF APPEAL




The Queensland Government is taking monetary donations in a number of different ways.

There's an online secure payment form, or donations can be made in person at any Queensland branch of the Bank of Queensland, Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, ANZ, NAB or Suncorp.

People with a credit card can ring 1800 219 028 or if you'd like make a donation via internet banking or send a donation in the mail you can get all the details here.


RSPCA

RSPCA Headquarters in Brisbane is going under water, if you can foster care any flood affected animals email floods@rspcaqld.org.au or call (07) 3426 9999.

SES


If you want to assist in the ongoing work that the State Emergency Service does in the state, you can boost the ability of volunteers to carry their job out by donating to it.


ST VINCENT DE PAUL AND THE RED CROSS


St Vincent de Paul has launched an appeal to help people on the ground, as has the Red Cross.


SALVATION ARMY


You can also donate via the Salvation Army's website, being sure to select 'Australian Disaster Relief' in the drop down options.


LIFELINE


Alongside Red Cross volunteers, Lifeline Community Recovery Officers are providing psychological and emotional support to individuals and families affected by flooding. All funds raised through the Lifeline Appeal will resource the program so that Lifeline can provide fast response and well-trained staff and volunteers in the event of a disaster. WESTERN AUSTRALIA FLOODS


The North West of Western Australia is also recovering from major flooding. You can donate to the Flood Relief Fund for North West Western Australia.


DONATIONS


Government and aid agencies are encouraging cash donations only. Donations of goods are NOT encouraged especially so that flood-affected communities may support their local traders.
Your local Lifeline centre will continue to receive donations of second-hand goods to help fund counselling programs.
