September 7: choosing who will stand up for Chifley

Member for Chifley Ed Husic MP has welcomed the news that the Federal election will be held on Saturday 7 September.

Mr Husic said Australians now faced a choice between a new way for Australia’s future or the same old tired negativity of the Liberals.

“Only Labor has a plan for better schools for our kids, investing to create jobs, keeping our economy strong, and delivering an NBN-future.

“I’m proud of what the Federal Labor Government has achieved for the people of Chifley,” Mr Husic said.

“Since my election in 2010, I’ve stood up for residents: pushing for better healthcare, fixing broadband blackspots, supporting DisabilityCare, stronger schools and safer suburbs.

“I haven’t had to think twice about making tough calls to speak up for residents – because I’ve been a voice in Canberra, not a number.”

Mr Husic said it was a huge honour to represent the local area in the Federal Parliament.

“I’ve spent that last three years holding mobile offices, door-knocking thousands of homes, and talked directly with people about the issues affecting them.

“Residents now get a chance to hear from their candidates during the course of a fair and respectful campaign.

“Local voters have the right to expect that candidates will campaign on issues, not personalities,” Mr Husic said.

Voters have until 12 August to contact the Australian Electoral Commission on www.aec.gov.au or 132326 and ensure they are correctly enrolled.
