Testimonial dinner to honour Roger's service to the community

Over 25 years of public life will be celebrated this Saturday when a special testimonial dinner is held in Mount Druitt for former Federal MP for Chifley Roger Price.

Former Prime Minister Bob Hawke will join Roger's family, locals, Ministers, MPs and other guests from community and political arenas to reflect on Mr Price's work and achievements.

"Roger's been such a big part of local community life here and touched the lives of many people - so it's fitting that we bring people together on this special night to say 'thanks, Roger'," said Federal MP for Chifley Ed Husic.

"It's also a great honour to have former Prime Minister Bob Hawke be able to join us. Bob and Roger were good friends and I know Roger was proud to have served as the former Prime Minister's Parliamentary Secretary in the early 90's.

"Councillor, Deputy Mayor, Parliamentary Secretary, Chief Whip - Roger's held a variety of different roles in public life.

"But I know the achievements that have given him the greatest satisfaction have been locally, especially in education where he worked really hard to see the creation of senior high schools to help boost senior student retention.

"That focus on helping the community has meant that we're just about at 'full-house' for the night with many local community and ALP members wanting to catch up with Roger and his wife Robyn."

Mr Price leaves Australia in November to take up a posting as Australia's Consul-General in Chicago.

The dinner will be held at Dharruk's West Tradies Club.
