Nearly three hundred friends and former parliamentary colleagues of Roger Price gathered at the West Tradies club on Saturday night to pay tribute to the former federal member’s lifetime of service to the local community.
Chief among these, was former Prime Minister Bob Hawke, who Roger served as Parliamentary Secretary.
Mr Hawke remembered Roger as someone who he could approach to bounce ideas off, and who would work hard to promote a government’s work and policies.
Mr Hawke thanked Roger for over thirty years service in support of the Labor movement and vision.
Federal Member for Chifley, Ed Husic who helped organise the Testimonial Dinner was pleased that so many former colleagues of Roger were able to attend.
“Roger’s dedicated so much to this area with his hard work and effort – it was terrific to see so many people there to simply say ‘thanks’”, Mr Husic said.
Federal Immigration Minister, Chris Bowen; Minister for Sustainability, Tony Burke; Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, David Bradbury; and former Veteran’s Affairs Minister, Con Sciacca were among many guests on hand to celebrate with Roger.
For many, it was their last chance to see Roger before he leaves for the USA to take up his three year posting as Australia’s Consul-General in Chicago.
