CORAL MCLEAN AWARDS

11 March 2015

Nominations have opened for the annual Coral McLean Awards, recognising outstanding community contributions by women in the Chifley Electorate.
The Awards, introduced by Chifley MP Ed Husic four years ago, are dedicated to the memory of Coral McLean, a selfless servant of her local community prior to her passing in 2011.
Coral was known to many as the mother of Mt Druitt and helped establish the Mt Druitt and Area Community Legal Centre, as well as being instrumental in the annual Reconciliation Walk.
I am honoured each year to be able to host the Coral McLean Awards and I know the worthy recipients are always humbled to accept an award in memory of such a giver to the community, as Coral was, said Mr Husic today.
We miss her, but this award reminds us of her, Mr Husic said.
During the week in which International Womens Day is celebrated, awards are presented in three categories: The Coral McLean Award, Chifley of the Year and Young Chifley Woman of the Year, (16 to 26).
